Terms, privacy and cookies

Terms of stay

Your booking

• An enquiry on WhatsApp is not a booking. Your stay is confirmed only when our team confirms it to you.
• The person booking must be 21 or over. Guests under 21 can't stay on their own.
• You can book for someone else, and you're responsible for them following these terms.
• Bookings can't be transferred or resold, and the guest name can't be changed once booked.
• Room rates don't include extras unless agreed with our team.
• We accept UPI, debit cards and credit cards. International cards carry a 2–4% fee.

Cancellation and changes

• Charges are on the total booking value, not on the amount paid.
• 7 or more days before check-in: full refund of the amount paid.
• 3 to 6 days before: 50% of the total booking value is retained.
• Less than 3 days before, or a no-show: 100% of the total booking value is retained.
• For example, a ₹10,000 stay with check-in on 20 December: cancel by 11:59 PM on 13 December for a full refund. From 14 to 17 December, ₹5,000 is retained. From 18 December, the full ₹10,000 is retained.
• Natural calamities (heavy rain alerts, road closures or landslides): we retain 25% of the total booking value and refund the rest of what you've paid.
• Once your stay begins, unused nights are non-refundable.
• Refunds are processed within 7 working days.
• Changing dates, or reducing rooms or nights, counts as a cancellation and a new booking: the cancellation terms apply, and the original rate may not hold. Upgrades are on request, charged at the difference.
• We may cancel a booking in case of misconduct, fraud or unlawful activity.

Check-in and ID

• Check-in is from 1:00 PM and check-out is by 11:00 AM. Early check-in and late check-out are on request, subject to availability.
• Indian guests: a government photo ID with address (Voter ID, driving licence, passport or masked Aadhaar). Foreign guests: passport and valid visa.
• ID is collected for the primary guest, and for the rest of your party where needed. Unmarried couples and all-bachelor groups are welcome with ID.
• We can hold luggage for up to 24 hours, space permitting, at your own risk.

Rooms

• Each room is for 2 adults and 1 child under 15, or up to 3 adults. More guests than a room allows need another room.
• Please don't eat on the beds. Soiled or stained linen is charged at replacement cost.

House rules

• Registered guests only: we don't permit outside visitors on the property, in rooms or common areas.
• Quiet hours are 11:00 PM to 6:00 AM, and loud music parties aren't permitted. Sound carries in the hills.
• Children shouldn't be left unattended.
• Please smoke outside, away from the rooms.
• Guest rooms stay pet-free.
• We're not licensed to serve alcohol. You're welcome to bring your own; please drink responsibly.
• Illegal drugs, weapons, explosives, flammable materials and gambling are not permitted anywhere on the property.
• The Nilgiris is plastic-free: single-use plastic bottles and banned plastics aren't allowed. Please carry any back out.

Safety and liability

• We don't run a hotel-style safe: valuables, vehicles and held luggage are at your own risk. Parking on site is free.
• CCTV covers the parking, staircases, bonfire area and restaurant, and is kept for 30 days. Fire extinguishers are placed around the property.
• Deliberate damage to the property is charged at three times its value.
• If you need a GST invoice, please share your GST number at check-in. It can't be changed afterwards.
• These terms are governed by the courts of the Nilgiris district.

Privacy

What this website collects. The site has no account or form that sends your details to us. When you tap "Enquire on WhatsApp", WhatsApp opens with a message you can read and edit; nothing is sent until you press send in WhatsApp. What you send there is handled by our team for your enquiry and stay.

Services your browser connects to. To show this page, your browser loads fonts from Google Fonts. If you accept analytics, it loads Google Analytics (see Cookies). If the weather badge is on, it asks OpenWeather for Ooty's current weather; we send nothing about you. Links to Google Maps, Instagram, LinkedIn, TripAdvisor, Amber by The Tamarillo and Tootle Taxi open those sites, which have their own privacy policies.

At the property. We collect the photo ID required by law at check-in and keep it only as long as the law requires. CCTV recordings are kept for 30 days.

What we never do. We don't sell, rent or trade your details, and we don't send you offers without your permission.

Your choices. You can ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it where the law allows, on +91 81100 33445 or reservations@thetamarillo.com.

Cookies

We use Google Analytics only if you tap "Accept". It sets cookies (names starting with _ga) to count visits and see which parts of the site are useful, such as how many people open WhatsApp from it. We don't sell this data. If you choose "No, thanks", no analytics cookies are set.

The site also remembers your cookie choice and, for 30 minutes, the weather reading, in your browser's own storage. You can change your choice any time with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of the home page.
